Online Family Therapy

Online Family Therapy Sessions in Ontario by Registered Therapists at Psychotherapy CollectiveFamilies, and family dynamics are complicated. Within families, patterns are often established, such as how everyone communicates, how they deal with stress/conflict, their role in the family unit, and how they seek support from one another. In addition to established patterns, families are influenced by life’s transitions and stages (having a baby, navigating separation, divorce or remarriage) and by contextual stressors such as physical and mental health challenges, migration, financial concerns, social barriers, and marginalization.

In family therapy, we seek to balance the needs and perspectives of each individual, to understand the internal dynamics between family members, as well as how these dynamics impact the well-being of each individual and the family as a whole. Finding a family therapist can be difficult. At Psychotherapy Collective, our Registered Psychotherapists focus on the internal strengths and resources each family possesses and we strive to help you recognize these attributes and assist your family in overcoming current and historical challenges. Online Child Therapy

Since children are impacted by family dynamics, we typically find the most effective way to work with children is within the context of family therapy. Family therapy with younger children (ages 6-11) often involves a combination of parent/caregiver-focused therapy sessions, family therapy sessions and individual therapy sessions with the child, when appropriate. For teenagers seeking therapy (ages 12-18) we often provide both individual and family therapy sessions to provide space to focus on adolescent and family therapy goals. Our clinical preference is to involve parents and family members; however, we recognize the importance of holding space for teenagers to participate in individual therapy sessions.
